The Hollywood Bowl, the outdoor music venues in Los Angeles, and the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, was honored as the Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue at the 27th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards at the SF Masonic in San Francisco, CA. This distinction marks the 12th consecutive nomination and subsequent award for the iconic venue and affirms the Hollywood Bowl as a premiere destination for performers and audiences alike.
Renowned for its exquisite setting, the Hollywood Bowl plays host to a large diversity of artists, from classical and pops to jazz, rock and world music. During the 2015 season, the Hollywood Bowl concert series included performances by Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Journey, Ed Sheeran, Smokey Robinson, Yuja Wang, Harry Connick, Jr., Death Cab for Cutie, Audra McDonald, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Joshua Bell, Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall, Ziggy Marley, Yundi, Heart and The B-52s, among many others. The team of Andrew Hewitt and Bill Silva also brought a star-studded line-up that included concerts from Neil Diamond, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, Brad Paisley, Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, Van Halen, Alt-J, Duran Duran and Kanye West.
"It's an honor for the Hollywood Bowl to be recognized by Pollstar as the best major outdoor concert venue for the 12th consecutive year," said Gail Samuel, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. "We love this wonderful venue and we are always thrilled to have confirmation that our industry colleagues love it too. So much goes into a Bowl season, and with our presenting partners and the ongoing support of the County of Los Angeles, we look forward to another exciting summer season in 2016."
The Pollstar Concert Industry Awards honor the best of the concert industry for their accomplishments. Nominees were selected by a cross section of international music business professionals and winners were determined by the international readership of Pollstar.
The line-up for the 96th season at the Hollywood Bowl was announced on Feb. 9, and tickets for the Hollywood Bowl 2016 summer season will be available online.
