Wind-up Records has announced a new addition to their roster: Spirit Animal. The Brooklyn-based band joins the New York-based label's eclectic roster of rock, pop and alternative acts, which has grown to include artists The Griswolds, Allday, Civil Twilight, The Revivalists, The Virginmarys, Strange Talk, Crobot and more.
Singer Steve Cooper, drummer Ronen Evron, bassist Paul Michel and guitarist Cal Stamp created a stir with their debut EP, This Is A Test, and a pair of tracks—“The Black Jack White” (which surpassed one million spins on Spotify) and “BST FRNDS”—that appeared on mtvU.

“It’s like…much bigger,” Cooper says of the forthcoming release. Spirit Animal has re-imagined its sound with body-rocking riffs and choruses that burst at the seams. “Everything that was wild is more wild. Everything that was heavy is heavier.” The ultimate message, however, still serves the same purpose: to bring the party to the people. “It’s always supposed to feel good," Cooper adds. "It’s always moving towards euphoria."
Spirit Animal will release their forthcoming EP, World War IV on Oct. 30. Of the signing, Wind-up Records CEO and President, Ed Vetri comments, "Every so often, you stumble upon a live show that makes you feel like you've been hit by a thunderbolt, that is the essence of Spirit Animal. Accompanied with powerful, melodic songs, [the band] promises to rock our world!"
