Chosen, the first video-based, crowd-judged talent competition game for mobile phones, has announced the winners of its first in-app competition. Over the last eight weeks, the performers and judges who topped the leaderboard in the app each week were submitted to the finals and a winner in each category was selected for top prizes at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival June 11-14 in Manchester, TN. The winning judge, Chaz Robinson, has won a VIP package to attend the festival, and the winning performer, Joel Woods, will perform a full set on the Who Stage at 2:30PM on Friday, June 12.
Chosen is the first mobile app to offer the prize of performing on stage at a major music festival, and this is the first prize of many of its type within the game. The game is giving undiscovered musicians the unprecedented opportunity for exposure and to be catapulted from performing in front of a webcam to a crowd of thousands in front of a live national audience.
“I still can’t believe that I’ll be performing at Bonnaroo–what an amazing opportunity!” said Woods. The singer won the contest with his raw rendition of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”
“I’m so excited to be attending Bonnaroo as Chosen’s VIP contest winner!” commented Robinson. “Thank you to the amazing people at Chosen for the incredible opportunity to attend such a legendary event!”
Spearheaded by David Hyman, former CEO of Beats Music, MOG and Gracenote, Chosen is available now for free on the iOS App Store. The app has been featured in The New York Times, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Wall Street Journal, Re/code, USA Today, LA Times, Variety, TechCrunch, Mashable, Product Hunt and more.
