Berklee Names Jane Mendillo to Board of Trustees

BerkleeBerklee College of Music has named Jane Mendillo to its board of trustees. Mendillo is the former president and CEO of Harvard Management Company (HMC), which manages Harvard University’s endowment and related financial assets.

Mendillo had worked at HMC for 15 years earlier in her career and returned after serving six years as chief investment officer at Wellesley College, where she built the college’s first investment office and restructured its portfolio. Upon rejoining HMC in 2008, she reoriented and grew HMC’s investment platform and organization to position the portfolio for continued long-term success.

“Jane Mendillo is not only an outstanding leader of college endowment management, she is also a thoughtful observer of the key challenges and opportunities that face higher education in every domain—affordability, quality of educational experience and campus culture,” said Berklee president Roger H. Brown. “I am delighted to welcome her to the Berklee board.”

“It is impossible to be around Berklee and not be excited by the creative, energetic and talented student body and faculty,” said Mendillo. “I know I will learn from them and from Roger Brown and his team, and I trust that I can bring some of my experience to bear as well. Berklee has a very bright long-term future and I look forward to being part of it.”

Mendillo, a resident of Concord, MA, began her business career as a management consultant with Bain & Company in Boston. She earned a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Yale University. She is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society, Inc., the Council on Foreign Relations, the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations, and the Boston Economic Club. Mendillo serves on the board of directors for the Boston Foundation, and on the Investment Committee at Partners HealthCare and the Rockefeller Foundation.
