Hardcore Devo Live! celebrates the 40th anniversary of the legendary new wave band Devo. Shortly after the announcement of their 10-city tour, the experimental group lost lead guitarist and keyboardist, Bob 2, suddenly to a heart attack. The band found the strength to keep the tour dates in memory of Bob Casale and to donate part of the proceeds of the shows to support Casale's family.
Original members Jerry Casale, Mark Mothersbaugh and Bob 1 perform alongside Josh Freese, who replaces the original Devo drummer Alan Myers. Myers passed in 2013 from stomach cancer. Freese has also played with NIN, Suicidal Tendencies and Guns n' Roses to name a few.
Recordings from their show in Oakland, CA will be released in video and audio and fans that pre-order the set through PledgeMusic will have exclusive access to signed merchandised and more.
On June 29th, Devo performed at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, followed by a show in Solana Beach and another in Austin, where the tour was supposed to come to an end. Fortunately two upcoming dates were added in Chicago on August 26th and 27th as a support act for the Canadian indie-rock band Arcade Fire. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the legendary Devo rock out to the experimental music they created between 1974-1977 in Akron, Ohio. We are all Devo!
