Genre-defying artist Duckwrth has released new single and video "Toxic Romantic," and it's a thrilling blend of punk, alt-rock and hip-hop.
"A sonic jolt straight into his most toxic habits, 'Toxic Romantic' marks a pivotal moment in the album’s narrative, peeling back the layers of Duckwrth’s romantic recklessness," they say. "Over pulsating production (Two Fresh), his introspective lyricism lays bare his internal battle between self-awareness and indulgence. 'I’m so problematic. My baby girl, she can’t stand it'—a line that encapsulates the guilt, selfishness, and thrill that fuel his toxic patterns."
“I’ve been very aware of the bad habits I perpetuate—like entertaining other women while in a relationship—but that awareness didn’t stop me from being selfish in the past," says Duckwrth.
The video appears to display Duckwrth in a blue leather jumpsuit, trying to use an old school phone in the desert, then dancing and driving around. Then, he's banging on an apartment door, hanging at a low-key party. Then, he's saluting on TV, before turning into a puppet. It's all happening.
