Hit the Decks! It's AMÉMÉ

N.Y.C.-based electronic artist AMÉMÉ started DJing when he was in college in New York, 13 years ago.

"I started with visits to the local electronic store that had their CDjs, and then I moved to many house parties at friends' places," he says. "The next thing I knew I was playing local clubs because people liked what I was doing and they started to ask me to get more involved into the scene, and then it all took off from there."

AMÉMÉ describes his current sound as being "between African Electronic Music and Groovy House. Then moving all that on a spectrum of organic elements."

His latest release is "Wait For You."

"[It's] a collaboration with Franc Fala through the renowned Armada Music," he says. "It’s one of those songs with an infectious melody and vocal, then the groove comes to bring it home. It’s always hard to press stop after I play it."

As for gear: "A V10, cdjs 3k, RMX 1000, Ableton as a DAW, with Sennheiser headphones."

Looking ahead, AMÉMÉ has plenty planned for the coming months.

"There is one last release to close the year and it’s a special one," he says. "It’s a remix of a legendary African classic celebrating their 30 years anniversary plus a couple of legendary shows. Bringing my label One Tribe for the first time to Miami at Jolene will be pretty special during Art Basel too. Also I shall have my first time playing in South Africa at Johannesburg and Capetown."
