Hit the Decks! It's nimino

London-based producer and Ninja Tune’s newest signee nimino was around 14 when he started producing. "I honestly still don’t think it’s gotten serious," he says.

He describes the nimino sound as, "Sort of like a bunch of soft, fuzzy, harmless creatures creating a new form of science."

nimino's latest single is "I Only Smoke When I Drink."

"It’s really opened a lot of people up to this type of sound, which in turn has introduced people to the rest of my music," he says. "It’s been a really exciting and kinda vulnerable place to be sitting, I can see how a lot of people could struggle with the pressure of it, but thankfully I’ve been releasing tunes for a while now so I’ve gradually been adjusting to this kind of attention."

As for gear: "I’m always performing with Ableton push, and I’ve loved Synplant for new synth recipes. Not sure if I should recommend Moises but since that’s been an option my life has become a whole lot easier."

Looking ahead, nimino has plenty planned for the coming months.

"Definitely touring and playing as many shows as I can - I really just wanna make this live set as good as it can possibly be as I feel like it’s improving with every show," he says. "The videos are a rarity for me but there’s the possibility that I’ll do one soon."
