An old school hip-hop treat this week, as our Video of the Week comes courtesy of rap icon MC Lyte.
Lyte's sharp vocal are instantly recognizable to anyone that has followed her career, watching her smash glass ceilings along the way.
"The song, a tribute to Hip Hop Heads, is delivered with MC Lyte's signature style that resonates how she weighs real-life decisions and triumphs, inspiring her audience to sometimes examine their point of view," reads the press release. "'Don’t kill time, breathe life in the moment, my word I can own it, hate I don’t condone it', is proof enough she’s telling the story of how she navigates through adversities."
"This video is more than just a visual piece," says MC Lyte. "It’s a return to authentic Hip Hop. It reflects the perseverance and determination it takes to make it through this entertainment business, but more importantly, how I’ve gotten through life. I'm excited to share this message with my fans and the world."
The video has old school vibes too; Lyte is walking down the center of a street, then she's sat at a spotlit table, then she's dancing at night in front of graffiti.
