ATTENTION GEN Z AND MILLENNIALS ENTERING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

DON'T BURN BRIDGES: if it was a bad experience, as much as you want to say your cuss words and throw fits, keep it clean!

HAVE A GREAT EXIT ATTITUDE: keep it light, positive, be thankful for the opportunity, have a nice friendly demeanor

ASK FOR A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: a general letter is so useful and powerful for your next steps, ask and keep it in files

YOU ARE YOUNG AND BUILDING REPUTATION: reputation in the music industry everything! keep it going and keep it up

BE A FRIEND AND EVEN KEEP IN TOUCH: it's not because something ends in professional situations that it's a dead end, if it was a good job keep connections

GIVE THAT 2 WEEK NOTICE: be respectful of the company transitions! It can be stressful for a company to find someone to replace you! Show that respect and give them a window

FIND A FEW CHEERLEADERS: in a company you will have close coworkers, acquaintances, friend/coworkers, find your cheerleaders, the ones that are going to vouch for you if you need recommendations for your next jobs

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS A CONNECTIONS GAME: it's a connections game, a numbers game and a small circle, have you ever seen the episode in the show Portlandia where there's 2 musicians at a bar dropping "names" and talking smack or saying good things...?

INTUITION: moving on, look back sometimes on your jobs, how did you start them? How did you leave them? what could have been done differently, it's good to reflect!

BE THANKFUL: you're starting out and someone gave you an opportunity! There will be many more!
