This writer recently reviewed North Carolina artist TiaCorine on a bill with A.R. the Mermaid and BbyAfricka at the Echoplex, just the latest in a long line of incredible all-female hip-hop shows that we've seen in the last few months. Unsurprisingly, TiaCorine was on fire that night.
"TiaCorinne thrilled the Echoplex crowd with a set of razor sharp tunes including 'Pancakes' and a handful from the new extended play [Almost There]," we wrote.
"Shamone," also taken from that same EP, is the latest single and it's been released with a killer visual which sees her out in the desert, dancing in the sand or on top of an RV of some sort. Later, she lays in the sand in the moonlight, contemplating everything.
Meanwhile, the song sees her unimpressed with a man's advances. Apparently, she's not going to pick up the phone because this guy sucks.
"A two-minute burst of braggadocios bravado, 'Shamone' spotlights TiaCorine’s bulletproof bars and fiery flow front-and-center," reads the press release. "808s rattle through shaky synths, and she warns, 'I’m still never gonna pick up.' In the accompanying Moshpxt directed visual, she descends upon the desert. Letters spell out 'The End of the World' in the sand, and this hip-hop femme fatale proceeds to body the beat with the force of an apocalyptic event. An outfit change and a smoke break gives way to a final scene of TiaCorine against the backdrop of a setting sun, donning fur, rapping unapologetically with confidence."
