Country legend Alan Jackson played the Honda Center in Anaheim Saturday night (10/2). In Jackson’s 40 year career he has released 18 albums and has won two AMA’s, 17 ACM awards, a Billboard Award, two Grammys, 16 CMA awards. Jackson is ranked at 28 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Country Artists. Jackson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010. Jackson is also a member of Country Music Hall of Fame, George Music Hall of Fame, and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Jackson has had astonishing 35 number 1’s singles and 11 albums on the U.S. Country Chart. Also, he has had 66 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Jackson even has a highway named after him in his hometown of Newnan, GA. Jackson also has one of the most iconic mustaches in Country music. Jackson’s latest album is Where Have You Gone in 2021.
Last year Jackson announced having Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease and in March of this year announced his Last call, one more for the road tour consisting of 16 dates. Nevertheless, Jackson still puts on a great show. As Jackson stated during the show after a fan request that he was trying to fit as many hits as he could in the set lasting 90 mins. The set began with “Gone Country” and had three covers; Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues,” Hank Williams Jr. “The Blues Man,” and Charly McClain’s “Who’s Cheatin’ Who.” Jackson also played his Grammy, CMA, and ACM winning song “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning” witten about the attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11. The song ended with a photo being shown of the firefighters raising the American flag where the towers stood leaving the crowd chanting U.S.A. Before this song, Jackson honored his father with “Drive (For Daddy Gene) and shared the story of how we wrote it after losing his father in 2000. A few of his biggest hits like “It’s Five O-Clock Somewhere,” “Chattahoochee,” and “Where I Come From,” were the last three songs before the encore of K.C. Douglas’s “Mercury Blues.” The video for “Where I Come From” paid tribute to the L.A. area sports teams like the Dodgers, Rams, Chargers, Kings and Lakers. Along with the songs Jackson’s music videos played along with most. For 40 years Jackson has stayed true to playing real country music.
