If you’ve never heard the name Immediate Family or its members, you certainly have heard them among 1000’s of albums, singles, chart-topping hits, and countless Gold and Platinum albums by artists like Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, and countless others. The Immediate family is guitarists Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, and Steve Postell, bassist Leland Sklar, and drummer Russ Kunkel. Since the 70’s this group of studio musicians have become some of the most recorded in music history. Recently, The Immediate Family released their debut album including originals and covers. The Immediate Family stopped at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills Sunday night while on tour in support of their album.
In the audience was none other Jackson Browne himself, producer/keyboardist Cj Vanston, Toto’s Steve Lukather, Ringo Starr drummer Gregg Bissonette, Quiet Riot’s Chuck Wright, Former Fleetwood Mac touring keyboardist Brett Tuggle, The Cars’ Elliott Easton, former Rod Stewart sax player Katja Rieckerman, Berlin keyboardist Dave Schulz, music producer Timothy Eaton, and Bruce Quarto owner of Quarto Valley Records which The Immediate Family is signed to.
The setlist included Immediate Family originals and covers of songs members of the group played on like Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry,” “New York Minute,” “All She Wants to Do is Dance,” Jackson Browne’s “Somebody’s Baby,” and Warren Zevon’s “Lawyers, Guns, and Money,” “Things To Do in Denver When You’re Dead,” and “Werewolves of London.” A few originals were the opening song “Fair Warning,” and “Cruel Twist,” which was the final song of the evening.
After the show the band came out to meet fans and sign albums. The tour concludes in Pennsylvania November 21st.
