L.A.-based musician Mary Scholz announced that she has signed a production deal with KZZ Music, co-founded by Kirk Pasich of Blue Élan Records. Together with co-founders and producers Zachary Ross and Zackary Darling, Pasich announced the company’s founding in June 2021. With this signing, Scholz becomes the first official artist under the KZZ Music banner. Now the acclaimed singer-songwriter has begun crafting her third full-length studio album, which will debut in 2022.
“Mary is a uniquely talented artist who has reached an inflection point in her career,” Pasich remarked. “I’m thrilled to welcome her to the KZZ family.” According to Pasich, KZZ Music aims to help recording artists create career-defining music. The company is an artist incubator, bridging the gap between the major-label and independent worlds by offering strategic guidance and facilitating production and distribution. This production deal brings Scholz fully into the fold, deepening the collaboration and unlocking exciting musical opportunities.
Scholz’s relationship with KZZ Music began when Kirk Pasich first heard the artist’s previous LP, California, following its release in 2017. The album broadened the artist’s fanbase and cemented her reputation as a fearless storyteller and observer of the human condition. “I’m really excited for this next phase,” Scholz remarked. “Partnering with KZZ will allow me to work with a group of incredible creatives — Kirk, Zach, and Zack among them. KZZ Music has already released two original singles from Mary Scholz, each written and produced by the artist. Zachary Ross co-produced the first of the two, titled “LADY LIBERTY.” Scholz unravels the mythos of America in its lyrics. Her subsequent release, “Into the Wind,” is marked by soaring vocals and angelic acoustics and features Ross as an accompanying musician. These tracks are a prelude to what’s yet to come, as Scholz will be releasing a new EP and music video this month, and recently entered the studio to record her third LP.
