Young screen composers still have time to register to enter the World Soundtrack Academy’s Film Music Composition Contest for a chance to win the Sabam Award for Best original Composition by a Young Composer. Those under the age of 36 can enter by writing a symphonic score for a scene of Nanook of the North, Robert J. Flaherty’s 1922 silent documentary. This year’s film excerpt coincides with WSA’s decision to now make documentaries eligible for the Academy’s awards program.
The deadline for submissions is May 17. Get the rules and eligibility information at worldsoundtrackawards.com/en/projects/composition-contest/20.
