Rdio Expands to Jaguar and Land Rover, Global Partnership With Bosch

rdio-logoRdio, a global music streaming service, announced an exclusive partnership with Bosch to integrate an unlimited music subscription service into dashboards of vehicles internationally through the new Bosch mySPIN platform. The exclusive global partnership is the latest example of Rdio’s commitment to providing users around the world with access to the music they love whenever and wherever they choose to listen.

The partnership adds Rdio as Jaguar and Land Rover’s first in-car on-demand music streaming service on the InControl Apps platform. Users can safely interact with Rdio’s online and offline features through the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Through the Rdio app on InControl Apps, a technology that links smart phones to a vehicle’s infotainment system, drivers have access to Rdio’s more than 30 million tracks on-demand directly on their dashboards. Rdio’s user experience has been customized for InControl Apps, so drivers are now able to utilize Rdio’s familiar user-friendly navigation and features in the way they are accustomed.

“Rdio is committed to delivering the best streaming experience wherever our customers listen to music,” said Anthony Bay, CEO, Rdio. “Rdio on InControl Apps underscores our effort to simplify how people listen to music by providing them with the most convenient access to our massive catalog.”

“We hope to provide mySPIN users with the best possible in-car experiences across all categories and Rdio’s superior music streaming service is the perfect fit,” said Sharjeel Noor, Senior Director, App Innovation Center – Americas, Bosch. “Rdio’s willingness to develop a fully interactive app for mySPIN, featuring the seamless interface users have come to love, made Rdio an ideal exclusive music streaming partner. We look forward to introducing their service on mySPIN.”

“We are excited to offer Rdio’s excellent streaming service on the InControl Apps platform to Jaguar and Land Rover owners,” said Peter Virk, Head of Connected Technologies & Apps, JLR. “Our drivers will be delighted to find Rdio’s feature-rich service easily accessible through the convenience and safety of their dashboard while online or offline, so our drivers can continue to enjoy music as they drive though places with or without internet access.”

As part of the initial rollout, Rdio is accessible to subscribers of the unlimited music service in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles where InControl Apps is installed, and Rdio’s free Internet radio solution will be integrated later this year. Rdio on InControl Apps provides a safe way for drivers to easily access Rdio’s popular features including personalized radio, curated stations, search, albums, playlists and favorites.
