Evans has announced the newest addition to its family of endorsers with the signing of world-renowned drummer Keith Carlock.
Residing between two major music meccas, New York and Nashville, Carlock was voted number 1 Pop drummer, number 1 Fusion drummer, and number 1 Best All-Around drummer in recent Modern Drummer’s Readers Polls.
As a testament to Evans drumheads, Carlock says, “The G14’s sound warm and enhance the drum’s low end, the overtones are focused and perfect, they are easy to tune and very durable.” Altogether, Carlock plays Evans’ G1, G Plus, and G14 coated tom heads, Evans’ G1 coated on his main snare drum, the ST Dry on his auxiliary snare head, and Evans’ G1 clear bass drumhead.
No stranger to the big stage, he has recorded and/or toured with such musical luminaries as John Mayer, Sting, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Donald Fagen, Walter Becker, Diana Ross, Faith Hill, The Blues Brothers Band, Mike Stern, Leni Stern, David Johansen and the Harry Smiths, Richard Bona, Chris Botti, Wayne Krantz, Rudder, Harry Belafonte, Oz Noy, Larry Carlton, Clay Aiken, Rascal Flatts, Paula Abdul and Grover Washington, Jr, to name a few.
Furthermore, Carlock doesn’t just play drums, he also teaches them, covering many topics and demonstrations in his instructional DVD with Hudson Music entitled “Keith Carlock-The Big Picture: Phrasing, Improvisation, Style, & Technique” released in 2009.
