Now I only write hit songs, July 31, 2007
By Randall A. Morter
I just received the book last night and have read about 1/4 of it. It’s great so far, lots of insight and information. After reading some of Mr. Braheny’s info on his website I couldn’t wait to get his book. It’s more than I expected, including actual music theory but as it relates to hit songs, not just raw theory. Cool!

I found this book in a little discount store in GA, never knowning how valuable it would become. Inside, there is a wealth of information. It is though(in my opinion), geared moreso toward songwriters, but if you are a performer you will still find it helpful. I sure did.

Over the years there have been many books written and used by attorneys as mere vanity projects or publicity tools. This is not one of them. In fact, there is nothing self-serving about this book at all. It concisely answers the majority of questions that a new or marginally experienced music artist would typically ask an attorney. It’s formatted in a logical, easy to follow sequence and categorized by topic. It makes a nice quick reference guide.

To be truthful, I was skeptical when I first read about this book and doubted it could help me much as I’m a nightclub DJ, not in a more traditional band. I still gave it a shot and it’s one of the best purchases I have made for my DJing thus far. This book is full of little “aha” moments - ideas that are at once practical and unusual. There are no magic secrets in the Guerilla Music Marketing Handbook, but page after page of resources, inexpensive (or free) ways to promote yourself and your music and helpful true-life stories to illustrate the content and give further inspiration.

This dense paperback was written by two brothers who happen to be authorities and specialists in the areas of music licensing. (They also happen to be two of the coolest entertainment attorneys I have met.) Their book gives you a realistic sense of just how much money can be made through licensing, as well as educating you on the many different variables that affect amount and payment you will receive. This is a must have book for anyone who would like to get their material licensed.

It is refreshing to see how a specialist still retains the ability to be marveled by the cases he sees in his office. Too often scientists get so blasé over their practice that they miss the finer human aspects of every case. Sacks leads the reader gently by hand, even while using neurological jargon, into amazing stories of patients who live through situation we would not have imagined. And they all involve music and how humans experience it.

There are questions that are too big for science; are there gods, for instance, or what is love? And maybe we will never fully find out scientifically why music does what it does and why we care about it so. But for many reasons, music ought to be a profitable subject for scientific enquiry. It is, as Pythagoras knew, an activity strongly rooted in mathematics, and the physics of music is fairly well understood.

Working musicians dictionary of terms, April 11, 2002
by joey prezka (New York City)
BRAVO, Mr. Aranjo!!!
Not only is this book witty, insightful and candid it’s FUNNY! I have two other books by KARL ARANJO (Guitar Chord Guru & Guitar Scale Guru) and both of them well thought out, educational books, and I count them to be among the finest in my extensive collection. This DICTIONARY OF MUSICAL TERMS reveals an awful lot about the world and words of real musicians. I wish I would’ve found this book when I was a teenager or a music student because this vocabulary is essential and highly educational for all music students, musicains, hobbyists (like me) and teachers. Mr. Aranjo has obviously been there and done that as his sharp wit and good hearted wisecracking indicate. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED
I learned and laughed, what more can I say except that I bought 10 of them for gifts. Hmm,,,, I wonder if he gives lessons.

WOW BLAST from the PAST, March 3, 2006
by Eva Ledesma
This book would have been great about 5 years ago!!!! Now it is really out of date. I don’t think this book should even be on the market it offers you as much information if not less as if you were to go to google and look up MP3. I also think the title was very misleading. Let me give you the real title of this book “HOW TO UPLOAD MP3 to the INTERENT! by using outdated sites!” Don’t buy
