Description
Jeff Austin Addison, Pro Guitarist & Vocal
I am looking for a pro group (at least as good as Bad Company was) to play rock, blues or blues-rock &/or 70's Classic Rock or orignals (or a combination thereof.)
The lead guitar clip is from an orignal song I wrote and recorded in the studio recently, "Just Have to Wait" (for tomorrow.)
Kathleen Siskron is on vocals on that one.
My Email is: JEFFAAUSTIN@MSN.COM. If you have a pro band with very good vocals and you want a professional, dependable orignal guitarist/vocalist who can play Classic Rock lead, blues, rock and more please contact me. Experience: decades of playing with different groups 4-6 nights a week, five sets per night.
(That was when club owners had house bands. We played the Topanga Corral for 6 months straight, 6 nights a week, for example. And the Attic in Marina del Rey for a 3 years on and off, mostly on, 4 nights a week. We were house band at the Windjammer on the Sunset Strip when Mario bought it and changed the name to The Rainbow, He kept us on but moved our rock trio upstairs. (then he bought the Roxy next door and had us play there). . Another example of being a house band was playing The Raintree in Torrence for eight months straight, six nights per week, 5 sets per night.). My infulences are E. Clapton + Trower + Jimi but I have my own Rock and Blues styles .
I started playing guitar in Tucson, AZ. when I was 15 years old. When I was 18, I played with the Spiders (now named Alice Cooper) but had to quit because they did not want to expand to L.A. So I after they found another guitarist, I joined an all-original Blues band. I thought there was more opportunity in L.A.. I joined The Sot Weed Factor Blues Band, went to Hollywood & signed a 3-year record contract with Original Sound. After that record company let us down (what a suprise) , I formed many bands until I found a winning combination: Hammerhead, who play nearly every club in in L.A. for two years. We were a power trio + an electric vilon player and a lead singer, playing originals & covers.
Later I wrote "Summer Nights" with Kim Fowley, our producer, and Hammerhead signed with Crescendo Records. The record played on KLOS frequently and across the U.S.A. We recieved good reviews from our Starwood gigs in The L.A. Times. But the drummer flaked. It's too bad when good bands break up due to ego. After we broke up, I then formed Hot Lucy, a better band with more talent; a powerful trio with harmonies which played Gazzarri’s 3 out of 4 weeks for years (Gazzarri's was on the Sunset Strip next to the Rainbow, Roxy and The Whiskey). Then we went on to play Dance Concert Tours of 3,000 to 6,000 person venues. I was the booking agent and manager of the band. We did not trust agents. Hot Lucy had a light and fire show (as in the main photo). Two pods that held smokeless gunpowder were set off while holding out the last note of the last song. I would put lighter fluid on the back of my SG, pass it through the fire to ignite it and hold that over my head. I timed it so when the gunpowder burned out (7 seconds), I set the guitar down on the stage and that ended the night. Everyone loved it. We were not called Hot Lucy for nothing - Lucy is the name of my guitar. As lighter fluid burns at a low kindling point, it never hurt the finish of the guitar. We were always very careful and had the roadies keep the people near the stage back from the flames at the ending.
We mixed in songs from Eric Clapton, Stones, Chuck Berry, Johnny Winter, Elvis Costello, Robin Trower, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Credence, Joe Cocker, Aerosmith, Hendrix., ZZ Top, Bowie and some Blues plus our originals.
I know the chords and words to at least 400 songs, mostly 70’s material and Blues but I can play anything after 35 years of pro playing. I have good stage presence. I do not believe in egos in a band. No drugs, and I think a few beers for singing is enough, at least not so much dinking it interferes with the music.
I believe smoking is bad for singing. So destructive. But if the band sounds great and the music is tight, I would not press my opinions on the other band members, except hard drugs which could endanger all our freedom.
I do not have to be “the star.” I am just looking to stay with a pro band where everyone gets along, listens to each other and plays well together. I have worked with lots of pros, including Jimmy Gillen (Johnny Winter's drummer), Fito de la Parra (Canned Heat Blues Band's drummer), Jimmy Z (Rod Stewart's sax player, 3 years), Ditmus (Dr. John’s first Conga Player), Randy Castillo (Ozzie's drummer, 5 years), Stephan Ellis (Grammy winner - Survivor) and the famous Blues man Stanley Barone (sax, harp, flute, vocals) to name a few. My house has a small STUDIO which makes rehersls esay because it has a 1,000 watt P.A., a Road Bass amp with a Mitchell cabinet (two15" Lansing), full double kick, double toms drum set, and four guitar amps set up all the time.
I play lead with a Gibson SG. The amp I use when I play depends on the size venue, of course... I have four different sized amps for different size venues, so I get a bluesy/rock sound without being too loud... That gets and keeps gigs. Bands often get fired because they are too loud. I like dynamics and to play music that makes people happy & dance with the magic of a precision band. The best way to contact me is through my email; JEFFAAUSTIN@MSN.COM. Thank You.
