The first pieces of music that grabbed me were the movie soundtracks I heard in theaters and the scores of musicals my mother collected on LPs. The rich cultural mix of my home, San Antonio, Texas, has fed me for many years, and I've also been nourished by diverse influences from beyond its borders: American and European folk, the British invasion, Motown and R & B, and the jazz of Parker, Coltrane and Miles. I've had good mentors who have generously supported my hopeful, upbeat spirit: composer/producer Mitchell Markham, Nashville legend Col. Buster Marvin Doss, and my partner, co-writer, manager & mentor, Nancy Jo ("Nanjo" Glasgow. I naturally turn to my roots - Russian, Irish, German and Swiss - for continually rich musical inspiration.
I believe music has an important function to bring people together, helping them overcome all differences. It stimulates, like little else, the deep bond of kinship between all human beings.
