Practice without a metronome
The metronome was not invented for musicians to practice with. It was invented for composers to show conductors what tempos they wanted their compositions performed in. In order to train for live performance, realize that every single live band in music history never played in perfect time, because live music was never meant to be played this way. Good time comes from knowledge of music, knowledge of your instrument and knowledge of the style you are playing; not from a click device.
