Vater Gives Back to Community in Honor of Passing Friend/Employee

On Nov. 5, 2009 Vater Percussion made a musical instrument donation to Weymouth High School in Massachusetts in memory of Jeff Phillips. A long time employee of Vater, Phillips lost his life to a senseless act of violence in July of 2009. In total, Vater presented the school with over $14,000 worth of instruments and accessories. The companies and people that donated along with Vater Percussion included: Gretsch Drums, Dixon Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drum Heads, Evans Drum Heads, Guitar Center, Takamine Guitars, Latin Percussion, Toca Percussion, Gibraltar Hardware, Drum Fun, Hudson Music and educational books and DVD’s from Steve Fidyk. Originally attending the school to determine what type of scholarship to create in honor of Phillips, Vater’s employees noticed the poor condition the school’s instruments were in, and decided to give something that would inspire young musicians to continue in music.
