Country star Jake Owen thrills crowd with song dedicated to troops, veterans

Before a crowd of over 75,000 — including troops, veterans, family members and general public – Carrie Underwood and Jake Owen closed out the “Salute to the Troops” concert with Jon Rich and Hank, Jr. The free event kicked off “Week of the Eagles” at Ft. Campbell (near the Tennessee/Kentucky border), a bi-annual tribute to the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Divison. Near the end of Owens’ set, he brought the audience to a roar as he sang an impromptu lyric change of his hit, “Starting With Me,” that also summed up the evening’s spirited tribute: “…To all my friends out there tonight looking at me, I’ve got to thank ya’ll personally for keeping us free!”
