YOU’LL NOT SEE NOTHING LIKE THE MIGHTY BOOSH
CATCH THE MIGHTY BOOSH TONIGHT AT THE ROXY FOR FREE! (see below)
If you’re an Anglophile that reads MOJO magazine, watches BBC America, listens to T-Rex and knows where the local British video store is, then you’ve known about The Mighty Boosh for quite a while; you probably own the Pal version of the DVD’s by now. And if you’re a fan of Adult Swim, you got hip to the Boosh this past March when they started to run all the shows. But if you’re brand new to the Mighty Mighty Boosh, then you brace yourself, you are in for one of the funniest and surrealist shows the UK has to offer since The Young Ones. Created by Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding, the show is like Dr. Who, Land of the Lost, Monty Python, and Flight of the Conchords, and a Gong album (pothead pixies, anyone?) all at once.
I’m not going to get too into it, but this is a pretty good synopsis of what the show is about:

In “The Mighty Boosh,” self-absorbed wannabe glam rocker Vince Noir (Fielding) and the intellectually vain and self-proclaimed genius and jazz aficionado Howard Moon (Barratt) are in a band and live alongside a freelance shaman, Naboo (Michael Fielding) and Bollo (David Brown), a talking Gorilla. Each season, The Mighty Boosh creates its own unique environment, taking place in a vast array of locales, including the “Zooniverse”, the Frozen Tundra and the Australian desert. Each episode features an original Mighty Boosh song as Vince and Howard continue their never-ending search for the “new sound.”

Barret and Fielding are on a little tour of sorts, and they’ve come to the States to celebrate the American release of their first season on DVD. Aside from attending Comic Con, they also played some announced and secret gigs (dubbed “The Mighty Boosh Bash” and in conjunction with MySpace Secret Stand-Up)this past weekend, and TONIGHT YOU CAN CATCH THEM DOING THEIR DJ/COMEDY SET AT THE ROXY…and guess what? IT’S FREE! The doors open at 8:30 and the showtime is at 9:30…but I would get there on the early side since it’s a free event and you never know how many will show up…afterall, the Boosh have quite a cult following here in L.A.
