CHALI 2NA WAS JUST CANNED…
…I mean that my interview with former J5/Ozomatli, baritone rapper, Chali 2na is in the can. I met him at some swanky office building off the Sunset Plaza section of the Sunset Strip. Chali’s got his first solo album coming out on Deacon Records sometime in July. I didn’t bring my camera down, but I tried to get a few seconds of the interview on my phone…but there wasn’t so much room. It’s kinda trippy, because as he moves back and forth, his voice goes in and out. sorta like he’s going underwater?
I must say, he’s got one of the most distinctive voices in the biz, and he’s a real down to earth person to boot. Not that I care if an artist I meet is down to earth or not, I’m not really here to judge their character, but it helps when the subject is a real teddybear.
When the profile comes out (not sure when, but stay tuned) I’ll give you some portions of the interview where he gets into some deep stuff. Until then, here’s his new video featuring Talib Kweli.
