REMEMBER OL’ SIMON JOHN RITCHIE (SID VICIOUS)
After some technical issues, I’m happy to say the blogging will officially begin. On another note, let us a few seconds to remember the one and only Sid Vicious. It’s been 30 years since the death of “PUNK.” Did he really KILL Nancy or was it an accident, we’ll never know, but Sid couldn’t live long enough for the trial and died of a heroin overdose on this day back in 1979.
Sid was responsible for starting punk’s trademark dance, the Pogo, and he was such a fan of the Pistols that he seemed to be the perfect fit when they needed to replace Glen Matlock…actually, Malcolm McLaren and Johnny Rotten knew he was the perfect specimen of style and abandonment, and exactly what they needed to sell the image of punk. That “underground” image has now become mainstream pop culture and music….and TOYS! So to the original drummer of Siouxsie and the Banshees and distinguished member of the infamous Bromley Contingent…R.I.P. SID. Sid’s death report

The Sid Kubrick doll came in a special Never Mind The Bullocks set.
NOW, below you can click on “PISTOL BOY,” a tribute to Sid that reggae artist Militant Barry recorded in 1979. The Rastas loved the punks because they both fought against what they called, “the shitstem” or “Babylon.” The track was produced by the incredible Keith Hudson and as far as I know it’s been out of print for years, though you may find it on the internet somewhere. This version comes directly from my personal collection, I bought the original 45 when I visited Inglan’ in 2003.
