BAND COMPETITION AT COLORADO’S ROCKYGRASS FESTIVAL

Bluegrass, Old Time, Western Swing or New Acoustic/Newgrass instrumentalists and bands from around the country will take part in the nationally recognized 2009 RockyGrass band competition. Participating bands perform around a single microphone in the Wildflower Pavilion in Lyons, Colorado. Awards include an invitation to play a set at the 2010 festival, cash prizes and more. Bands should consist of 3-6 members with no drums or electric instruments (some exceptions apply). Prizes: 1st place earns $750, strings and 2010 festival main stage performance; 2nd Place is $500 & strings; and 3rd Place is $300 & strings. Preliminaries are Sat., July 25, and finals are July 26th. Festival headliners include Steve Earle & the Bluegrass Dukes and the Del McCoury Band.
