A distributor’s obligation is simply to place records in stores
Some artists also expect a distributor to help them with marketing and promotions. Unfortunately that is not a distributor’s primary function. Sometimes distributors will offer co-op advertising and marketing for a fee that is later deducted from the artist’s income. But, most often, a distributor’s obligation is simply to place records in stores.
