Africa Scholars Program
The Berklee School of music has created an Africa Scholars Program to provide opportunities for African musicians who lack the financial means to study at Berklee. The college held audition and interview events in Accra, Ghana, and Durban, South Africa. Berklee’s The Africa Scholar Program, established by Berklee President Roger Brown and wife Linda Mason, is intended to increase awareness of the college among African musicians by holding more auditions there, and increase the number of African students at the college, promoting a significant cultural exchange. While other colleges have study abroad programs for American students, it is very uncommon for American colleges to recruit in other countries.
